With industry, there's meat to eat.
Chen Xiao and Wang Yubao once heard a popular argument suggesting that Zhejiang entrepreneurs fall into two distinct categories: one, represented by Wenzhou and Taizhou, champions the mindset of "industry pales in comparison to commerce, and commerce is no match for hoarding"; the other, typified by Hangzhou, Jiaxing, Huzhou, Shaoxing, and Ningbo, focuses firmly on down-to-earth engagement in real industry. However, Ye Jinwu, chairman of Taizhou Jinlong Motor Co., Ltd., has completely reshaped this perspective. He insists, "I never enter industries I don’t understand—and I certainly never try to mix real business with speculative ventures." Perhaps it’s precisely this unwavering dedication to the real economy that gives him both confidence and a solid foundation.

Yet, Ye Jinwu, chairman of Taizhou Jinlong Motor Co., Ltd., has completely reshaped our perspective. He insists, "I never enter industries I don’t understand—and I certainly never mix serious industrial pursuits with speculative ventures." Perhaps it’s precisely this unwavering dedication to real industry that has given him both confidence and a solid foundation.
Yang Junxiong: Yongkang has stopped snowing and is now clearing up. In Langjia Village, Xicheng Subdistrict, villager Xu Longqi feels a bit "frustrated": He had prepared two lavish tables of lunch, uncorked his cherished "ten-year-old" aged wine, and was eager to toast the occasion—hoping for a good, carefree drink. But to his surprise, none of the guests even touched a drop. His relatives chuckled, "Having wine marks the New Year; but even without it, it’s still the New Year—as long as the bonds are genuine, you can still celebrate with a smile." With no real "market" for fine wine, Xu Longqi ended up pouring and sipping the liquor all by himself.
Chen Zui: Stepping into Yantou Village in Fenghua, you’re greeted by rooftops, village paths, bamboo groves, and rolling hills blanketed in thick snow—creating a serene yet enchanting rural landscape. From the first to the third day of the lunar new year, over 5,000 visitors have already driven their cars into this remote mountain village, with more than 260 vehicles parked along the old street on the third day alone.
City dwellers falling in love with ancient villages for the New Year—this, in my view, represents a shift in lifestyle philosophy. Increasingly, each of us is yearning to return to simplicity and authenticity.
Chen Gan and Yu Yuexiang: Historically, Huangyan's main urban area was known for its saying "36 Streets and 72 Alleys." Today, the "72 Alleys Image Art Gallery New Year Photography Exhibition" is being held right in these charming little lanes. Gray walls, blue-tiled roofs, and the serene, rain-soaked alleyways—paired with Spring Festival couplets, lanterns, and blossoming plum flowers—create a unique atmosphere of "grassroots culture." It’s wonderful to see culture and art returning to the streets, reconnecting with everyday people, and embracing the beauty of "both the mundane and the refined!"
Weng Yingchang and Xie Guoping: On the third day of the first lunar month, Yao Tao, a business owner at the Zhoushan International Seafood City in his hometown Anhui, delivered rice, flour, cooking oil, small-packaged seafood products, and red envelopes to 60 to 70 lonely elderly residents, people with disabilities, and impoverished households in the village. He has been doing this consistently for the past five years. "Zhoushan's fresh seafood is renowned worldwide," he says, "and I want the village's lonely seniors and low-income families to savor the delicious taste of Zhoushan seafood as well."
