Recognized as a municipal labor model, he also serves as a member of the Chinese expert group for international IEC standards, vice president of China’s Small and Medium-Sized Motor Industry Association, vice chairman of the Loutiao District Federation of Industry and Commerce, and chairman of both the Loutiao District Motor Industry Association and the Jinqing Town Chamber of Commerce. He has been honored with the title of "National Outstanding Entrepreneur." In 1970, he volunteered to go to Heilongjiang Province to support frontier development. In 1980, he took over as the director of the Huangyan City Motor Factory at the time. With relentless determination and teamwork, he successfully revived the nearly bankrupt company, creating employment opportunities for more than 500 unemployed young people and displaced farmers. In 1994, the company underwent an upgrade and restructuring, transforming into Zhejiang Jinlong Motor Co., Ltd., where he served as both chairman and general manager. In 2001, he established Hunan Jinlong Motor Co., Ltd. in Hunan Province, again serving as its chairman and general manager.

Face challenges head-on and start a business through hard work.

Zhejiang Jinlong Motor Co., Ltd., located in Jinqing Town by the shores of the East China Sea. As you step into Jinlong, the spacious gates immediately reflect the open-mindedness of its people, warmly welcoming guests from all directions. The newly completed, state-of-the-art factory buildings epitomize modernity and grandeur—truly, it’s hard to imagine that today’s Jinlong once resembled its humble beginnings over 30 years ago.

Jinlong Electric Motor, formerly known as the Huangyan Electric Motor Factory, was a municipally-owned second-tier collective enterprise facing severe financial difficulties. In 1979, it nearly collapsed due to the sharp downturn in the domestic motor sales market. It was Ye Jinwu who first proposed implementing a contracting responsibility system within Zhejiang Province, successfully pulling the struggling company out of its crisis. By 1980, at just 30 years old, he was appointed factory director for his outstanding work performance. The following year, he was honored by the leaders of Huangyan County, becoming one of the first factory directors recognized for his remarkable achievements.

On June 15, 1994, in order to better adapt to the needs of socialist market economy development and effectively reform the enterprise property rights system, Zhejiang Jinlong Motor Co., Ltd. was jointly established, with Huangyan City Motor Factory as the core entity, alongside Huangyan City Second Light Industry Cooperative Association and Huangyan City Xinqian Casting Factory. Ye Jinwu, renowned for his bold innovative spirit, precise market-oriented strategies, keen ability to learn new knowledge and embrace fresh ideas, as well as his extensive hands-on management experience accumulated in motor production, technology, R&D, and sales, was appointed as both Chairman and General Manager.

In 1997, due to the domestic sales market's severe downturn affecting the production of small household blowers, Jinlong Company, like its domestic peers, plummeted mercilessly into a deep abyss. At this critical juncture—when the company faced a life-or-death crisis and employees were at risk of losing their jobs—Ye Jinwu bravely stepped forward, taking on the vital roles of Chairman and Party Branch Secretary of Jinlong Company. He rallied the entire workforce to fight tenaciously, actively explored international markets, and decisively shifted the company’s production toward a range of electric motors, successfully launching these products onto the global stage. Ye Jinwu recalls that when he first took over the company, even basic travel expenses of more than 1,000 yuan couldn’t be covered by the finance department. It was only after he personally used the 300,000 yuan proceeds from selling his private home that the company finally secured its initial startup capital—enabling it to introduce advanced equipment and train skilled technicians. This laid a solid foundation for Jinlong’s future growth and ushered in a new era in the company’s development history.

Today, under the leadership of Ye Jinwu, Jinlong Electric Motor has successfully established its own national brand—Jinlong-branded motors—which have earned widespread acclaim and enjoyed a prestigious reputation both internationally and domestically. Jinlong Company has also been recognized as a designated motor manufacturer in China's machinery industry, a national-level enterprise selected for the "Double Excellence and One Superiority" project, a member of the National Technical Committee for Rotating Electrical Machine Standardization, and a participant in China's expert group for IEC standards. Additionally, it has been certified as a nationally exempted-inspection product enterprise and, in 2010, became one of the first companies included in the "Energy-Saving Products for People's Benefit" catalog—solidifying its position as a leading exporter in China's motor industry. In 2004, the company's JM series EFF1 three-phase asynchronous motors were officially listed as part of the national Torch Program project. The "Jinlong" brand motors have proudly received the titles of "National Exempted-Inspection Product" and "China Famous Brand Product," while the "Jinlong" trademark has been honored as a "China Well-Known Trademark" and a "Zhejiang Export Famous Brand." Furthermore, Jinlong Company has been admitted as a member of China's National Standardization Administration Committee, actively participating in the development of industry technical standards at both domestic and international levels. It has also been awarded prestigious titles such as "National High-Tech Enterprise" and "Zhejiang Province Integrity Demonstration Enterprise." In 2009, Jinlong was honored with both the Zhejiang Provincial Quality Award and the National Machinery Industry Quality Award. That same year, in November, the company obtained the national export exemption certificate, securing its products a "green pass" for quality assurance in overseas markets. Today, Jinlong's motors are exported to over 30 countries and regions, including Germany, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Greece, as well as Australia, North America, South America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Notably, Jinlong holds the top spot in Zhejiang Province's motor industry in terms of production volume, and its total motor exports consistently rank among the nation's leaders in the same sector, making it Zhejiang Province's largest export hub for electric motors.

As China joined the WTO, products, technologies, and cutting-edge management ideas from around the world flooded into the country. Fearing that his own management approach might fall behind, Ye Jinwu remained committed to learning—even amidst an incredibly busy workload—continuously absorbing new knowledge and strengthening his theoretical foundation. He enrolled in the Economics program at China University of Petroleum, earning his bachelor’s degree certificate in 2004. But he wasn’t content with that; in 2005, he further pursued an MBA at Fudan University’s Advanced Executive Training Program for CEOs.

Hand in hand, advancing together and pioneering innovation.

“If you can’t open your heart and embrace others, you won’t be able to accomplish great things.” This is a phrase Ye Jinwu often repeats. He never holds back—instead, he’s always eager to share his research achievements and management insights with fellow industry leaders. Many people have jokingly asked him, “What if others learn from your experience and eventually become your competitors?” To this, he confidently replies with a smile: “It’s precisely because of competition that we stay motivated! Only when the entire industry rises to new heights will the global motor industry look up to us. That’s how our JINLONG brand can truly become the pioneer and leader of the global motor industry!”

Since the company's new factory was completed in 2008, Jinlong has welcomed wave after wave of visiting enterprises. Regardless of the size of the visiting companies, he has always extended a warm welcome, personally guiding them through the factory premises and office buildings. He has generously shared technological advancements and management insights with his fellow industry peers, actively promoting a policy of open collaboration among businesses. This approach fosters mutual learning, cross-industry benchmarking, continuous improvement, and mutually beneficial partnerships—ultimately driving healthy competition among motor manufacturers while jointly expanding both domestic and international motor markets.

“Seeking fire is not as effective as obtaining flint; relying on borrowed water is no match for digging your own well.” Ye Jinwu deeply understands the critical importance of talent and technology, and has poured considerable effort into attracting top professionals and fostering technological innovation for his company. Located in a relatively remote corner of Jinqing Town within Luqiao District, how could he break through geographical constraints to draw in both talent and cutting-edge technology? Driven by this pressing challenge, Ye Jinwu worked tirelessly, eventually embarking on the path of collaborative partnerships between academia and industry. In 2004, Jinlong took the bold step of establishing the Jinlong Motor Technology Research Center in Shanghai, forging strategic alliances with prestigious institutions such as Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Shanghai Institute of Electrical Science. The addition of expert talent proved to be a game-changer for Jinlong, propelling the company to new heights. Under Ye’s visionary leadership, Jinlong Motor has continuously developed high-tech products tailored to market demands, introducing innovative offerings to the global stage every year. Today, Jinlong Motor stands as China’s leading enterprise in the motor industry, boasting the most comprehensive product portfolio in the sector. Moreover, it was among the first domestic companies to pioneer the development of energy-efficient motors and secure official energy-saving certifications. As a recognized national high-tech enterprise, Jinlong Motor continues to set benchmarks for excellence in its field.

As the third-term president of the Jinqing Town Chamber of Commerce, Ye Jinwu is deeply committed to the chamber's work. He has consistently prioritized innovative management and enhanced service capabilities as the core tasks for building a robust grassroots chamber, actively exploring ways to establish a new brand identity and cultivate distinctive features for the Jinqing Chamber—achieving remarkable results in the process. First, he established a streamlined operational framework centered around specialized working departments, laying the foundation for a well-organized chamber. This included setting up standardized office spaces: the entire sixth floor of the company’s office building, comprising 12 rooms, was repurposed into essential areas such as the president’s office, departmental meeting rooms, event halls, and exhibition spaces. Additionally, a comprehensive five-department system was implemented: the Secretariat, the Publicity & Cultural Affairs Department, the Social Research Department, the Enterprise Innovation Department, the External Exchange Department, and the Member Rights Protection Department. Each vice president took charge of leading one of these departments as either the head or deputy head, enabling each team to operate independently while fulfilling their specific responsibilities—thus significantly boosting overall efficiency. Second, he spearheaded the creation of a robust publicity platform anchored by the chamber’s own newsletter, fostering a vibrant "cultural chamber." On September 25, 2009, Ye Jinwu boldly proposed launching the *Jinqing Chamber Newsletter*, an idea that quickly gained widespread support from members. To bring this initiative to life, he personally funded the printing costs of the newsletter. Through this publication, members could share vital information with one another, while the broader community became more aware of the chamber’s pivotal role. Ultimately, the newsletter served as a powerful tool for showcasing the chamber’s achievements and unique character to the entire town. Third, he cultivated an engaging event ecosystem centered on networking and camaraderie, helping to build a dynamic and appealing chamber environment. Key initiatives included organizing an annual general membership meeting to keep members informed about the chamber’s ongoing activities; instituting regular president meetings to discuss critical matters, mobilize resources, and ensure effective implementation of planned projects; and hosting a variety of cultural exchange events, such as tea gatherings, dinner parties, and lively cultural performances—including patriotic song sessions—that fostered a sense of belonging among members, allowing them to feel truly embraced within a warm, inclusive community. Finally, he promoted social outreach programs and enterprise visits, enabling members to gain firsthand insights into Jinqing’s socio-economic development. These activities not only provided valuable opportunities for mutual learning and inspiration but also strengthened the chamber’s ability to connect with its members, enhancing both its affinity and cohesion in the process.

Give back to society without forgetting our roots.

If Ye Jinwu is a successful leader in China’s motor industry, then to the employees of Jinlong Company, he is a warm-hearted and approachable boss who leads by example. In 2010, when one of the company’s employees faced an unexpected family crisis, Ye Jinwu immediately stepped in with deep concern. Not only did he provide material assistance, but he also helped the employee rebuild their home, offering much-needed comfort during a difficult time. On the company grounds, whenever he encounters an employee, he always remembers their name effortlessly—and often takes the time to chat with them, genuinely listening to their thoughts and encouraging everyone to keep learning and striving for self-improvement. To enrich employees’ leisure and cultural lives, Ye Jinwu has invested heavily in establishing an Employee Activity Club, complete with facilities such as a ping-pong room, a reading lounge, an electronic book library, and a dedicated training center. Over the years, he has consistently ensured that retired employees receive thoughtful holiday gifts, while those who fall ill are visited personally, bringing warmth and care directly to their hearts. Within the company, Ye Jinwu also makes it a priority to distribute festive allowances, gifts, and special New Year bonuses to all employees during major holidays, showing his commitment to their well-being and happiness.

“People must never forget their roots. Without the help and support of the government and fellow villagers, Jinlong would never have grown to its current scale,” Ye Jinwu often says. He actively participates in social welfare initiatives, exemplifying the role of a pioneering Party member by setting a positive public image that inspires others to contribute to公益事业, ultimately giving back to and enriching society. Over the years, he has generously donated money and goods to charitable organizations, supported the Project Hope, and provided assistance to underprivileged mountain communities, helping students in need.

At Jinqing Middle School, Ye Jinwu donated funds to establish a special scholarship fund, encouraging students to study diligently. Each year, several students receive his support, enabling them to pursue their long-awaited university education and continue their academic journeys. At Taizhou Vocational & Technical College, there’s the "Jinlong Class," set up under the company’s name. Meanwhile, in remote and underdeveloped mountain regions, many college students face the grim reality of dropping out due to their families’ financial struggles. Upon learning about their challenges, Ye travels thousands of miles to personally donate to and inspire these students, motivating them to keep pushing forward. Moreover, he warmly invites them to join Jinlong, where nearly 200 of his sponsored students have already found meaningful careers, helping them realize their full potential and contribute positively to society.

In Dazhou, Sichuan, resources were scarce. As the president of the Luqiao Motor Industry Association, he led his fellow motor industry entrepreneurs to Dazhou to donate both money and supplies. Whenever the nation faced a major natural disaster, he never hesitated to extend his heartfelt support. On May 12, 2008, during the devastating Wenchuan earthquake, Ye Jinwu took the lead in donating funds and goods, setting an inspiring example by encouraging his employees to join him in contributing to the relief efforts. Together, they raised a total of 360,000 yuan for the disaster-stricken areas in Sichuan. "Respect your own elders, and extend that respect to others' elders; cherish your own children, and care for others' children as well,"—this is the principle Ye Jinwu always upholds. During holidays and festivals, whenever he has a moment, he personally accompanies his employees to visit elderly care homes, welfare institutions, or even the homes of lonely seniors and disabled individuals in the town. There, they help with cleaning, chat warmly with the residents, offering comfort, warmth, and companionship to make the elderly feel cared for and celebrated during these special occasions. Earlier this year, he even drove dozens of miles to deliver heartfelt visits to families in need across several villages, including Jin’gang Community in Jinqing Town, as well as Wufeng Village, Hainan Village, and Haiyan Village. He brought along financial assistance and essential daily necessities, ensuring that these families could enjoy a joyful and peaceful Spring Festival. In 2009, Ye Jinwu donated 228,000 yuan to the town’s Charity Federation, ranking first among all contributors in the town. And in 2010, he topped the list again by donating 110,000 yuan to the town’s United Front Work Department’s charitable initiative. Though these acts of kindness are countless and immeasurable, Ye Jinwu himself prefers not to dwell on the numbers. Yet, through his actions, we can clearly see the genuine warmth and compassion in his heart—a true embodiment of philanthropy.

“An old steed in the stall still aspires to gallop a thousand miles.” That’s Ye Jinwu—though past his sixtieth year, he remains full of vigor and brimming with ambition. Leading the Jinlong team with unparalleled unity and collective strength, he inspires a passionate, energetic work ethic that continues to spark one remarkable achievement after another, writing a new chapter for Jinlong.
