The first batch of "Made in Zhejiang" standard list: 8 product categories from Taizhou make the cut.

Reporters learned from the Taizhou Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision that, in order to continuously and effectively promote the development of the "Made in Zhejiang" brand, our province recently announced the first batch of 2016 "Made in Zhejiang" standard-setting and revision plans. These plans place a strong focus on industries such as environmental protection, fashion, high-end equipment manufacturing, time-honored traditional sectors, and historically significant fields, covering a total of 53 products. Notably, eight product categories from Taizhou were selected, ranking third in the province. High-quality standards will undoubtedly boost high-level manufacturing, further enhancing the competitiveness of "Made in Zhejiang." Last year, our city made significant strides in participating in the formulation of "Made in Zhejiang" standards, with four leading enterprises—Weixing New Materials, Shuanghuan Transmission, Leo Group, and Xinjie Pump Industry—taking the lead in this effort.

Journalists learned from the Taizhou Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision that, in order to continuously and effectively promote the development of the "Made in Zhejiang" brand, our province recently announced the first batch of 2016 "Made in Zhejiang" standard-setting and revision plans. These plans place a strong focus on industries such as environmental protection, fashion, high-end equipment manufacturing, traditional strengths, and time-honored classics, covering a total of 53 products. Notably, eight product categories from Taizhou were selected, ranking third in the province.

High-level standards drive high-end manufacturing, helping to enhance the competitiveness of "Made in Zhejiang." Last year, our city participated in the development of "Made in Zhejiang" standards and achieved significant breakthroughs. Specifically, four companies—Weixing New Materials, Shuanghuan Transmission, Leo Group, and Xinjie Pump Industry—led the formulation of four group standards for "Made in Zhejiang" products, including "Automotive Cylindrical Gears," "Intelligent Hot Water Circulation Shield Pumps," "Small Submersible Sewage and Sludge Pumps," and "Civilian PPR Plastic Pipes," all of which have now been officially released and implemented.

This time, the 8 product standards that have been shortlisted cover smart toilets, industrial sewing machines, three-phase asynchronous motors, and other products from eight companies, including Zhejiang Xingxing Bianjiebao Co., Ltd. and Jack Sewing Machine Co., Ltd. Among these, 7 of the product standards were spearheaded by local Taizhou-based enterprises, while the remaining one was jointly developed with a company based in Hangzhou.

The companies shortlisted for this round are mostly industry leaders that have repeatedly participated in the formulation of national and international standards.

Take Zhejiang Jinlong Motor Co., Ltd., for instance—this company ranks first in China for small motors and is one of the designers behind the YX3 motor. Since 2004, it has actively participated in the development and revision of 73 national and industry standards for electric motors, with an additional 20 standards currently under development. The company’s chairman, Ye Jinwu, is not only a member of the National Standards Committee but also serves on the international standards committee for this product line. He played a key role in drafting IEC 60034-30 and is now an expert member of IEC/TC2 WG12, WG28, and WG31. As a result, the company’s products have achieved both internationally advanced and domestically first-class quality.

Take Zhejiang Yinlun as another example—leading the domestic heat exchanger industry, this company has maintained the top position in both production and sales of its flagship product, the oil cooler, for ten consecutive years among its domestic peers. The company is now poised to spearhead the development of a new plate-fin oil cooler standard, a move that currently lacks any international benchmarks. Notably, even developed countries have yet to establish unified, dedicated standards specifically for oil coolers; instead, major automotive and engine manufacturers rely solely on their own internal control standards. Meanwhile, China’s national industry standard JB/T 6003.1-2014 was also drafted with the active participation of this very company.

To more vigorously support Taizhou enterprises in participating in the development of standards, Taizhou City last year formulated and implemented supporting policies aimed at accelerating the building of the "Made in Zhejiang" brand, thereby driving forward the initiative to establish this renowned brand. The city has set clear goals, key tasks, and specific measures for advancing the "Made in Zhejiang" branding effort. Additionally, enterprises that successfully obtain "Made in Zhejiang" brand certification will receive a reward of 100,000 yuan, while those that take the lead in drafting "Made in Zhejiang" product standards will also be awarded 100,000 yuan.

Currently, the governments of all nine counties (cities and districts) in Taizhou City have introduced "Made in Zhejiang" brand incentive policies. Among them, Yuhuan offers a one-time reward of 500,000 yuan to enterprises that successfully obtain "Made in Zhejiang" product certification, while Linhai and Wenling provide rewards of up to 500,000 yuan per enterprise that achieves "Made in Zhejiang" brand certification.

Next, Taizhou City will continue to develop internationally leading and domestically first-class "Made in Zhejiang" standards through research, thereby establishing a comprehensive standard system for the "Made in Zhejiang" initiative across various industries, and helping Taizhou's real economy break free from "low-end lock-in" and move toward an exit from "low-level cycles."
