Recently, the Provincial Department of Science and Technology announced the list of newly recognized provincial-level enterprise research institutes for 2018. A total of 245 enterprise research institutes across the province made the cut, with Taizhou accounting for 18 of them, including the Zhejiang Tuoka Benma Intelligent Sewing Technology Research Institute, the Zhejiang Jinlong Motor Intelligent Manufacturing Research Institute, and the Zhejiang Taitian Zhizao Precision Pneumatic Tools Research Institute. To date, our city has cumulatively established 104 provincial-level enterprise research institutes in fields such as biotechnology and new pharmaceuticals, new materials, new energy and energy conservation, as well as advanced manufacturing and automation.
In recent years, our city has supported enterprises in increasing their R&D investments, continuously enhancing their independent innovation capabilities. At the same time, we have leveraged corporate research institutes as key platforms to accelerate enterprise-driven innovation and lead technological advancements across industries. By deepening collaborative innovation among industry, academia, and research institutions, these institutes are providing vital intellectual support for companies undergoing transformation and upgrading. Driven by corporate research institutes and R&D centers, various innovation resources have increasingly converged within enterprises, strengthening their role as the primary innovators and significantly boosting their overall innovative capacity—thus propelling the development of the city’s high-tech and strategic emerging industries.
It is reported that from January to October, Taizhou City achieved a value-added of 48.872 billion yuan in high-tech industries, representing a year-on-year growth of 16.3%—the highest growth rate in the province. The share of high-tech industry value-added in the city's total industrial value-added stood at 54.61%, ranking second in the province. Additionally, the city generated 146.296 billion yuan in output value from new products, an impressive year-on-year increase of 35.6%, also placing it first in the province in terms of growth rate.
According to the requirements, the supporting organizations of provincial-level enterprise research institutes must establish and refine organizational structures, management systems, and operational mechanisms that foster independent innovation. They should effectively gather innovative resources and create an environment conducive to attracting, nurturing, and leveraging talented innovators. Through a series of science and technology initiatives—including tackling key technological challenges, advancing industrial development, introducing cutting-edge technologies, facilitating their localization, absorption, and re-innovation, as well as conducting strategic research—these institutes will develop new technologies, processes, and products with strong market potential and competitive edge, backed by independent intellectual property rights. This will continuously enhance the enterprises' capacity for independent innovation and strengthen their core competitiveness, ultimately positioning the provincial-level enterprise research institutes as pivotal hubs supporting and driving the companies' growth, as well as leading centers for scientific and technological innovation in our province.
