Ye Jinwu: Contributing to economic and social development is my responsibility.

"How to help businesses collaborate for mutual growth and drive the rapid development of Jinqing's private economy is something I should dedicate significant effort to addressing." This is a question that Ye Jinwu, Chairman of Zhejiang Jinlong Motor Co., Ltd., President of the Luqiao District Motor Industry Association, and President of the Jinqing Town Chamber of Commerce, has been constantly pondering and exploring.

"How to help businesses collaborate and grow together, thereby fostering the rapid development of Jinqing's private economy, is something I should dedicate significant effort to addressing." This is a question that Ye Jinwu, Chairman of Zhejiang Jinlong Motor Co., Ltd., President of the Luqiao District Motor Industry Association, and President of the Jinqing Town Chamber of Commerce, has been constantly pondering and exploring.

From state-owned to privately owned—facing tough challenges to build a business

Jinlong Electric Motor, formerly known as Huangyan Electric Motor Factory, nearly faced bankruptcy in 1979 due to the severe impact of a sluggish domestic motor sales market. Ye Jinwu was the first in Zhejiang Province to propose implementing a contract responsibility system, successfully rescuing the struggling enterprise from its dire predicament.

In June 1994, to better align with the needs of socialist market economy development and effectively reform the enterprise property rights system, Zhejiang Jinlong Motor Co., Ltd. was jointly established, spearheaded by Huangyan City Motor Factory and backed by Huangyan City Second Light Industry Cooperative Association and Huangyan City Xinqian Casting Factory. Ye Jinwu, renowned for his bold innovative spirit, precise market-oriented strategies, and extensive managerial expertise accumulated in motor production, technology, R&D, and sales, was appointed as both Chairman and General Manager.

In 1997, due to the sharp decline in the domestic sales market for small household blowers, Jinlong Company, like many of its domestic peers, tragically plummeted into a deep abyss. Facing a critical period where the company’s survival hung in the balance and employees faced the threat of unemployment, Ye Jinwu bravely stepped forward to take on the crucial roles of Chairman and Party Branch Secretary of Jinlong Company. He led all employees in actively exploring international markets, decisively shifting the company’s production toward a range of electric motors—and successfully launching these products onto the global stage. Recalling the early days when he first took over the company, Ye recounted that even basic travel expenses of more than 1,000 yuan couldn’t be covered by the finance department. It was only after he personally contributed 300,000 yuan—his own savings from selling his private home—that the company finally secured its initial startup capital. This allowed Jinlong to introduce advanced equipment and train skilled technicians, laying a solid foundation for the company’s subsequent growth and development.

From independence to rallying together for mutual progress

"Private enterprises need to join forces and support each other if they want to thrive and go further," believes Ye Jinwu. He emphasizes that businesses must collectively explore paths for growth and development. That’s why he actively initiated the establishment of the Jinqing Chamber of Commerce and subsequently served as its third president. Dedicated to chamber activities, he consistently prioritizes innovative management and enhanced services as key priorities in building the grassroots-level chamber. Through these efforts, he has spearheaded proactive initiatives aimed at establishing Jinqing Chamber of Commerce as a new, distinctive brand, yielding impressive and encouraging results.

To build a standardized chamber of commerce and establish a well-organized office space, Ye Jinwu allocated the entire 12 rooms on the 6th floor of the company’s office building to create dedicated areas such as the chairman’s office, working departments, an activity room, and an exhibition hall. He also implemented a streamlined operational mechanism known as "One Hub with Five Departments," which includes the Secretariat, the Department of Publicity and Cultural Affairs, the Department of Social Research, the Department of Enterprise Innovation, the Department of External Exchange, and the Department of Member Rights Protection. Each vice-chairman was appointed as either the head or deputy head of one of these departments, allowing each unit to independently carry out its specific responsibilities. On September 25, 2009, Ye Jinwu boldly proposed the idea of launching the *Jinqing Chamber of Commerce Newsletter*, a suggestion warmly embraced by the majority of members. He personally sponsored the printing costs for the newsletter. Through this publication, members could share vital information with one another, while the town’s residents gained a clearer understanding of the chamber’s role and significance. Ultimately, the *Chamber of Commerce Newsletter* became a powerful tool for the Jinqing Chamber of Commerce to showcase its strengths and fully demonstrate its dynamic presence.

From business operations to giving back to society through public welfare

Once upon a time, while walking through the Huanglang Industrial Park, one could hear complaints from enterprise employees everywhere—neglected management had led to an increasingly deteriorating park environment, with numerous safety hazards as well. After thoroughly investigating the situation, Jinqing Town decided to implement property-based management across the Huanglang Industrial Park. Leveraging the strength and expertise of the Jinqing Chamber of Commerce, they established Taizhou Jinshang Investment Management Co., Ltd., with the chamber serving as a shareholder and its Executive Vice Chairman heading both the board of directors and the supervisory board. This company will oversee investment and management, upgrading the park's essential infrastructure. By adopting a closed-loop park management system, they aim to significantly enhance the overall environment. Additionally, the company will develop collectively reserved land, building a "Workers' Home" that provides employees with well-equipped spaces for entertainment, leisure, and shopping. "We also plan to roll out property-based management comprehensively across Jinqing's six major industrial parks," Ye Jinwu added.

This is one of the ways Ye Jinwu, as the chairman of the chamber of commerce, gives back to the community. As a leader in the business world, he cares deeply about his employees' development and promptly extends warmth to those who need it most. In 2010, when an employee faced an unexpected family crisis, Ye Jinwu immediately stepped in with heartfelt concern—providing not only material support but also helping the employee rebuild their home. Over the years, he has consistently ensured that every major holiday brings thoughtful gifts to retired staff members, while personally visiting and comforting employees battling illness, truly delivering warmth straight to their hearts.

He actively participates in social公益 initiatives, demonstrating the exemplary role of a Party member and leveraging his positive public image to promote公益事业 and give back to society. "One must never forget one's roots," Ye Jinwu often says. "If it weren't for the government and the support of our fellow villagers, Jinlong would never have grown to its current scale."
